042. Q & A on Strength Training & Fat Loss with Melissa Vogel
Hey Mama,
Raise your hand if you can do hours and hours of cardio, but don’t get why strength training is so dang important? 🙋🏼♀️
Been there!
For yearsssss I only did cardio. I could run and run. I could do the elliptical for an hour. I could spin. Weights? No, thank you. They just weren’t my jam like cardio was. 🏃♀️
Until…
❤️ I started learning about why lean muscle is so important. And, I started incorporating Street Parking workouts into my daily routine.
❤️ I was able to increase the food that I was eating and my waistline was shrinking (here’s a quick science fact for you: untrained muscle burns around 5-6 calories per pound while trained muscle burns up to 9 calories per pound). This means the more lean muscle you have on your frame, the more calories you get to eat.
❤️ I felt strong. And, it began to translate in other areas of my life. All of a sudden things I wasn’t sure I could do? Now, I was trying them. It’s a mentality.
❤️ I felt empowered. When you don’t know if you can do something, and you try anyway? That’s what empowerment feels like. Taking that step even when you’re unsure!
Strength training means so much more to me than just lifting the weight.
It changes your life. Your mindset. You show up differently.
In today’s episode of the podcast, I interviewed Melissa Vogel, a certified personal trainer, all about this topic. 🎧
