039. Your thoughts matter when you’re trying to lose weight
Hey Mama,
I got home from work the other day and was starving. I knew it was Taco Tuesday (which always means tacos with our neighbors), and I was making queso.
The problem was I hadn’t really tracked my food throughout the day, and it left me in this hangry state of mind (if you know, you know).
Anyways, one chip turned into two, which turned into just eating way more chips and queso than what I had originally planned.
And while the scale reflected it the next day, my thoughts were also right there with me telling me...
“You might as well keep eating the queso, because you’ve eaten more than what you planned.”
“It’s so good, what’s one more?” 👈 That one was on repeat.
“I can’t believe I just ate all those chips and queso, I said I would just have a little bit.”
Does this sound familiar?
This week, I’m talking all about self-sabotaging thoughts and self-evaluating thoughts on the podcast and how we can invite them in instead of pushing them away. I’ll be sharing a journal prompt to help you see what your own thoughts are telling you and solutions to choosing a different response when the self-sabotage talk chimes in.
I’m here to tell you, you can have the thought “I want to eat all the queso!” and choose to delay the immediate gratification by putting a serving that satisfies you on your plate with some delicious tortilla chips without completely blowing your day.
If you happen to listen to the thoughts and “blow your day”, it’s no big deal!
Be kind to yourself. You don’t need a new diet plan, you don’t need to restrict yourself a bunch the next day… You just need to get right back to what you need as soon as you can 🙏
Xx
